Studying Rocks from the Depths of Space to Earth’s Wettest and Driest Zones!

——————————————————

Hello and welcome to my website!

I am a geologist with expertise in the geochemistry of rare earth elements (REE) and the study of meteorites. I employ a combination of mineralogical and geochemical measurements, including both elemental and isotopic analyses to investigate rock and soil samples.

As a permanent research scientist (chargé de recherche), I work for the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), and I am based in Géosciences Environnement Toulouse (GET).

Before joining IRD, I was a F.R.S.-FNRS postdoctoral researcher at Laboratoire G-Time, Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). Prior to this role, I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie@ULB COFUND fellow, and before that, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher under the ISOSYC ERC project at the ULB.

My current research primarily revolves around two main areas of interest. Firstly, I am studying the behavior of REE during weathering processes in tropical regions of the planet. Secondly, I am exploring the chemical interactions that lead to the formation of REE ores in both low- and high-temperature environments. These investigations aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of the geochemical processes involving REE and their significance in various geological contexts.

I completed my doctoral studies at Aix-Marseille Université/CEREGE in France, where I specialized in the classification and investigation of terrestrial weathering in hundreds of meteorites originating from hot deserts. Prior to that, I obtained a B.Sc. in geology from Payam-e Noor University, followed by a M.Sc. in petrology from the University of Tehran.

If you are conducting any studies that involve geochemical analyses, I would be delighted to engage in discussions. I am open to exploring new collaborations and research opportunities.

Feel free to visit my website, and if you have any questions or inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Exploring the Extremes!

From the hot deserts of Lut, Sahara, and Atacama…

To the cold deserts of the Antarctic plateau…

…And forests of tropical Africa!

Science for Sustainable Development

In addition to pursuing knowledge expansion driven by curiosity, my work is focused on conducting impactful research to benefit society, especially the local communities where I conduct my field studies. To achieve this, I am engaged in the following activities:

  • Scientific exchange
  • Capacity building
  • Collaboration with local colleagues
  • Supervising local students
  • Outreach programs
